What impact does trauma have on us? How did Will Smith’s childhood trauma impact him?

This is an interesting article that illuminates why Will Smith might have responded the way he did when Chris Rock told a joke about his wife. The article reports that this might have been due to the childhood trauma that Will Smith experienced. When I witnessed “the slap” I thought about the trauma that he has experienced as disclosed in his autobiography. Is this an excuse? No. Is this a reason? Possibly.

  1. Reading over the list of examples/reasons of trauma I do agree that Will Smith has experienced a few of experiences that were listed. I think he is still experiencing trauma at home. Was he defending his wife or protecting himself…from the laughing he participated in to the slamming after he received a look of displeasure he received from Jada? Indeed the action he demonstrated is deep.
